About

Hi,

My name is Stephanie and I am pretty new to quantitative strategy, predictive analytics, and all things data science. I find all of this very exciting, to be honest.

As put in the first blog post, I landed a gig in establishing a data science concentration at a post-startup company. With a background in only limited academic statistics, I don’t exactly have the standard background for a data science career. I’m working to expand my knowledge in this field, and I’m going to document progress on this blog.

My career background is in finance, accounting, and a slight bit of information technology (although, mostly a focus in business analytics and project management). Academically, my undergraduate work was in business administration focusing on finance and accounting. Originally, I had gone to become an artist – but soon determined that I wasn’t all that good, and the market was competitive with my personality a bit too passive to make it in that industry. Switched to biology to become a vet only to realize blood wasn’t my dig. Landed in finance and accounting because I liked moving numbers around. For graduate work, I received an MBA with an emphasis in information systems and business intelligence.

The plan is to document strategy ideas and interpretations, tutorials on specific processes and procedures for beginners like myself, and specific problems with resolutions I’ve either encountered personally or found from a public source (like Kaggle). Again – I am new, and I would absolutely appreciate any advice. I’m here to learn 🙂
